My delima is that I want to go into the medical field but I'm not sure which specific career.

See, I wanted to go into translation but people were saying it's not always a steady job. So I decided to go for my dream of being a doctor. My grades are okay...3.0 for Freshman year (would've been higher...long story). So the most common job in my family is somewhere in the medical field.

I want to be either an NP or a MD. I feel like I should go on for the extra years and be an MD, but it seems like it would be easier to go down the nursing path.

What do you suggest?

Oh, I'm also minoring in Spanish, Chinese, and possibly Arabic as well as majoring in either pre-med or nursing.

  2. Whoa, I don't know who told you medical translation is not always a steady job, the projection is for BIG TIME GROWTH in the profession!

Particularly with you minoring in Spanish, Chinese and possibly Arabic ~ those are some of the languages that demand will remain strong in for trained professionals, and medicine is projected to have rapid growth in the need for translators.

Salaries can go as high as $100,000, so do take a look at the links below and reconsider it.

Take care, and best wishes in whatever endeavor you seek!  : )

  4. Great question, and I believe this is the right section for it.  Nursing can lead you to a great number of opportunities, though obviously an MD can, also.  There are many criteria you really need to consider, but a real concern is cost.  You could get a NP for a fraction of the cost of an MD or DO.
