I am a Senior in high school. And for the past three years of high school, I had known that after high school I was going to go to law school to become a lawyer. My parents were thrilled and pushed my decision. Now however I've realized that I do not want to become a lawyer, I've told my parents and they are not happy with my decision. That's not my issue however, my issue is that now I have absolutely not a clue as to what I want to do. I absolutely love to write, and have in fact written and completed a novel. I've sent it in, however I haven't had any responses, so I have given up on that dream. I'm not particularly good at anything, which is my problem. So if you have any suggestions on possible careers that involve some sort of writing and would be interesting, please, will you help me out?

  1. well you could work for a newspaper...that way you get to write and learn new things. or write a script for a movie or play...that could be fun! another could be writing songs...a song always tells a story...and if its a hit you could end up with some money.

sorry most of these arent very good but i cant really think of a writing career that doesnt involve a book...you could always try again

  2. Journalism is always a good option for someone who likes to write but needs to earn a living.  And, there are lots of fields of journalism in which to specialize. Radio, televison, newspaper reporting, internet, magazine writer-all are legitimate and exciting fields to explore. Good luck in your quest.  I truly hope you find what you are searching for.

  3. I maybe a pretty bad one to answer this question. This is my experience, perhaps it may help put some thoughts in you, coz I felt like sharing. When I was almost out of high school, i only had two options, go to college in hopes of graduating fast and get a job, or take my chances at the street and die. I was that poor. I actually never even thought of an another alternative, because there wasn't one. I grew up super poor and lived with a mom in rented houses, one after one, barely making each month, living a humble living. I was selfish like most boys my age, wanted money and job and had all desires. I finished undergrad, searched for a job and found nothing in what i studied (applied physics), nobody wanted me, and went to grad school, and worked crazy jobs each year, a roofer, plumbers assistant, grip, maintenance worker, lawn guy, pool cleaner, quack electrician, library assistant, as a technician, computer guy, teaching assistant, grader, all around go to guy.... 7 yrs of college later, I'm still looking for a safe, secure and small decent job to help pay rent, put food in my stomach, for warmth, buy gas. I'm 26 yrs old and I live in san diego, and I owe uncle sam tons of money back in student loans which I will be paying back for the rest of my life for educating myself.

I don't think I will ever be able to buy a house in this big world God put me in this life, all I own is an old beatup used toyota, my running shoes, a used guitar and some cloths and ipod. Some life huh?

My best suggestion my little friend is perseverance. No matter whatever you choose, please keep heart and survive and pray to God to guide you each step you choose.

    God bless you.
