  1. Download your camcorder's manual here:

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-d...

Refer to page 102. The DCR-DVD205 does not have a USB port.

To get video off the DVD in the camcorder:

If your computer has a drawer-loading DVD drive:

    Download and install HandBrake:

    http://handbrake.fr/

Take the finalized disc out of the camcorder and put it in the computer's drawer-loading DVD drive.

Rip the vide using HandBrake into a format your video editor can use. (.dv or .avi or .wmv for Windows MovieMaker; .DV, .mov, .MP4 for Apple iMovieHD)

Import the ripped video to your video editor.

If your computer does not have a drawer loading DVD drive (it does CDs only or is a slot loading drive) you will need to get an analog/digital bridge like

    or

In either case, be aware that DVD camcorders were never designed to have their video edited. Video quality when imported to your editor will not be very good. This is one of the reasons why DVD camcorders are so inexpensive.
