I'm not too sure how to inflate my tires or how to read the gauge

The car manual says the recommended psi is 3.2(220 kPa) psi for my tires and I can go up to 4 psi for highway purposes. Are the units of the pressure gauge in psi?

  1. The only place I have seen recomended pressure that low is on ATV's that dont go on the road. You will have to get a gage specificly for that.

Check with a dealer that sells your type of vehicle.

  2. Catch them at the tire shop when they aren't busy, and they will gladly show you how and answer any questions you might have.

  3. Always look on the plaque or sticker located on the door jam. It will tell you the recommended pressure for your tires (front and rear) on that particular car. All good tire pressure gauges have both gradients (kPa and psi). It should tell you which. If you have one of those standard ones where a squarish stick protrudes from the metallic base then one side will be labeled psi and another side will be labeled kPa. It will be the last number at the end of the metallic base. If it doesn't look this way ditch it for something of better quality.

  4. Hello Dynasty,

The tire PSI should be located on the side of the tire. It will tell you the maximum PSI for that particular brand of tire. I usually go 5 PSI below the max to allow for heat expansion. I have only seen this low of a PSI in an ATV tire.

I hope this helps you out! Good Luck!
