  1. Hey, Melbourne is full of quirky and fun things to do... Last weekend I went and did something (excuse the pun) pretty cool..

I went to the Chill On Ice Bar to kick start my evening out - you get some tasty cocktails to warm you from the inside :) It was a birthday present from my friend, she booked it through this site http://www.redballoondays.com.au/experie...

Check it out, great place to just chill ;)

    Enjoy Melbourne!

  2. Hi  =]

I have lived here in Melbourne all of my life so I practically know this area inside out =)

For accommodation (prices from $20 a night):

    Places to eat:

Alternatively the best place to eat at is Lygon or swanston street in the City. If you ask anyone they would know where this is so you won't ever get lost !! =)

And for the fun part - Things to do:

    My favorite website - http://www.totaltravel.com.au/travel/vic...

Hope this helps and enjoy your stay =)

  3. For an interesting eating experience, try Lentil As Anything... it's vegetarian food and you pay what you think it's worth... all an honesty system.

  4. Melbourne is cool at the moment so pack warm stuff too.

Great Ocean road or Phillip Island for surfing. Chadstone Shopping Centre is great for all your shopping needs. You can go bungy jumping at a market north of the city centre.

There is plenty of hotels/motels and back-backers places in the city centre. The lonely planet website has some great ideas about things to do and see.

  5. Okay... weird and wacky?!?  I suppose that depends on what you consider weird or wacky.

You could arrange to spend the night out at the Open Range Zoo in Werribee.

If you're fit (and I mean FIT), you could join the h**l Ride.  These "mad" cyclists muster at Black Rock (I think), and ride down to the Mornington Peninsula and back - every Saturday morning.  Bring your own pushbike.

You can hire equipment and go "kite surfing" on The Bay.  The bloke is usually set-up somewhere around the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron.

There's the Sky Deck on the Eureka Tower.  Not for those afraid of heights; but quite an experience when the floor "disappears".

As for dietary requirements, you'll have no end of choices.  In fact, quite a few "regular" restaurants also offer vegetarian options.  They usually either have a carrot-symbol or a "V" to indicate vegetarian/vegan options.

As for places to stay... try Nomads.  They're a chain of backpackers, and are all over Melbourne - nomads.com.au

Sorry if these suggestions aren't weird or wacky enough for you.

    Have a wonderful holiday.
