Question:

I'm off to Aberdeen Scotland soon.?

I'd like to take a side trip over to the Isle of Man. I most likely will not have a car. Is there a way to take a train to the ferry and then cross over? Is there an easy to find and relatively inexpensive public transport on the island?

I'm curious as to what might be the best way to arrange this adventure.

You do know that the Isle of Man is on the opposite coast of the UK & nowhere near Aberdeen?.

  3. You can cross by ferry from Heysham ( near Morecambe north of Blackpool ) for £17 ( £34 return ) Car rental about £70 per week

  4. Use Liverpool (best for Isle of Man) or Stranraer (West Scotland - but I think Summer only).

Douglas is the Capital. It's not a riotous loud place, but it has it's won uniqueness - an island you could easily easily enjoy a week or two on.

Quite expensive for food, I thought though.

Hire a bike (motorbike is the best) on the island.  Bus transport is perfectly good and almost all places accessible.
