Black diamond obviously tough, but is a blue square tougher than a green circle? What do they mean? The trail that the tour is taking us on is on a Green circle trail. Is the green circle a bunny hill or is the blue square a bunny hill?

Thanks

  1. The sign sysytem is the relative difficulty of a run compared to other runs in the same area.

    Green circle= easiest

    Blue square= more difficult

    Black diamond= most difficult

Double Black Diamond= very very difficult.

  2. A green circle represents the easiest of the hills. A blue square is medium and is harder than a green square, but easier than a black diamond.

    Circle < Square < Diamond

  3. Ski runs are rated as:

    Green Circle - Easiest Runs

    Blue Square - Intermediate Runs

Blue Square with a Black Diamond in the middle - More Difficult Runs

Black Diamond - Most Difficult Runs

Double Black Diamond - Expert only

Bunny hills are almost universally the easiest runs on the mountain and are rated green, however all greens are not bunny hills.  Bunny hills often have their own lifts separate from the rest of the mountain so that new skiers do not  slow down the lift loading on the rest of the mountain.

  4. i cant tell if you are joking or not!

double back is hardest it has a sighn with 2 black dimonds

black is the next hardest it has a sighn with a black dimond

then is blue black this one is more rare than the others it has a black dimond in the center of a blue sighn

then is blue which has a blue square

then is your green which has the green circle

the bunny hill really isn't a rated hill it is for begginners

  5. everthing thats already been said plus two diamonds with EX inside them means extreme terrain with a lot of cliffs and is really steep.

  6. Green Circle is easy

    Blue Square is intermediate

Black Diamonds ( Advanced) there may be multiple Black Diamonds for an even greater challenge.

I suspect the combination of Green and Blue symbols is that section of trail is where an intermediate trail overlaps onto an easy trail. Further down they should split back into to separate easy(green) and Intermediate(Blue) trails.

You should become familiar with the trails and carry a copy of the map with you.
