Ok so ever since I got my period it's been very irregular. I get my period & it lasts for over a month. So I started taking birth control pills and the first month was fine. I've become anemic from all the bleeding. My doctor said not to take the pills that make you get your period, so I started a new pack last week. But I got my period that first day, even though my doctor said I wouldn't get my period. I've had a heavy period for the past 5 days and idk why... because I shouldn't even be on my period!! btw I'm only 15.

  1. It takes your body a while to adjust to the pills. It's not uncommon to have a period when you take the pill continuously during the first 3 packs.  It's actually right in the pack.  It's called breakthrough bleeding.  It shouldn't last nearly as long as it usually does.  If for some reason you are still bleeding through the next pack you should contact your doctor and try another brand of pill.

  2. You need to go back to your doctor and be re-evaluated for another form of birth control pills or another form of birth control method.  There are lots of options out there and for any woman to have to suffer through long, heavy periods or anemia is just awful.  If you're not comfortable with your doctor, get another doctor's opinion.  Good luck sweetie!
