Its either a tampon or moon/diva cup or no swimming.  Try tampax pearl lites, they are very slender and have a plastic applicator.

I've worn tampons since age 11, and I'm 34 now.  I prefer them over pads.

Go out and get your own tampons or see about getting one from a friend.

hi u dont say how old u r .this is difficult to answer as had this prob when i was young .do u have ur own pocket money to buy ur own and get a girlfriend to help u or guide u thro  by explaining how to use em .or auntie . or its sitting ur mum down and saying u like to try so u can swim .tracey x

tell her you have to have them and if that doesn't work than go buy them yourself. or borrow some from a friend.
