I'm on someone's mailing list, how to get removed?

In the past month, I've received 3 letters which look like chain mail scams. You know, send letters out to a bunch of people, and get a buck for each subscriber.

How do I get off these scumbags' mailing lists?

  1. It was probably one of your friends that did it. If there is a phone # call and ask them to remove you.

  2. If it's all from just a few emailers then just block them.  If it's from people you don't know and you do no want to block them then you need to talk too them and have them stop sending you that c**p.  I get the same junk mail from my mother-in-law.  So, you can imagine my dilemma-can't block and don't wanna read it.

  3. You could always move. They wouldn't have your address then. Haha.

Anyway, you can find a phone number on one of their letters. If there is one, call and demand (don't ask) that they take you off the mailing list. Let them know that whatever they're selling is LESS likely to be bought if they send you tons of c**p. Or just say "I don't want any, and you can't change my mind." They'll usually take you off.

If that doesn't work, let them know that you'll tell others not to buy whatever they're selling. This will really get to them if you use something like MySpace, or something else that lots of people will see every day. (This will lower their potential customer numbers.)

    Hope this helps.

  4. You can do it on line, I think you have to pay $1. (I know, that's lame)

DMA consumers.org. I think that should be able to help. or you can do it by phone.
