My mum is also flying into US on tourist visa from Malaysia to see Niagara Falls. Will she also need visa to see Falls on Canadian side for a day? Is there a day pass visa whereby Canada and US have an agreement to allow international tourists to cross to the other side? Thank you.

  1. yes You would need a visa..Its around 60$ per visit and 125$ for 6 mtnhs....And also make sure you get the I20 signed form your DSO and make sure you have 194 card with you too...I am not sure about your mom but she might also need i guess

  2. You'll need a visa, but as a student, that isn't too difficult to get. Your mother will need a tourist visa, unfortunately this will be a pain in the *** to get, even if it's just for the day. Call the Canadian embassy and ask them.

  3. yes you will need a visa

  4. No

  5. Malaysian nationals do require a visa to enter Canada, so I would say that you would not be allowed entry without one.

I know that all you are likely to want to do is go to the falls lookout and take the boat ride, or get a few pictures. But Canada Customs does not regard it that way. If you enter Canada, there is nothing stopping you from going to Toronto, or Montreal, or other cities once you are allowed in.

It's silly for the average tourist, but it prevents those 1% of people who are coming here for other motives, like drug trafficking, terrorism, illegal immigration, or prostitution.

So your choice is to get a visa for your mom (and probably for you too if it is just a student visa you have for USA), or just watch the falls from the American side. You may be able to get partially onto the Rainbow bridge, or take a helicopter ride over the falls, and not sure if the Maid of the Mist boat rides (or equivalent) are also available to Americans.

  6. According to http://www.skyteam.com/EN/travelPlanner/... you don't need a visa for Canada IF you have a permanent resident card from the USA.  However, your mother definitely needs a visa.

  7. No you don't need a visa for one day...
