I'm on the brink of giving up acting?

Today casting directors start calling people for auditions on this certain show that I wanted to try out for. With all the negativity on here about how people a lot have no chance,I'm seriously freaking out.I feel so ridiculous for even trying, and spending hundreds of dollars on head shots and such.I need reassurance. The last thing I need is a rude answer.

  1. keep trying very hard and keep going for it if you do it enough people might put you on something. don't give up its a very very very hard business to get into but if it doesn't work out in the next 4 years or so mabye you should do smaller acting things such asbecomingg a drama teacher at a school or opening your own acting center. good luck :]

  3. You'll be great. Don't listen to those c**p heads they only say those things because they know they have no chance. Good Luck!

  4. You've chosen a difficult--but rewarding--career.  One thing that helps me in those dark days of not getting called for gigs is one teacher's advice: the audition is the job.  When you get the part, that's when the fun begins.

Hang in there.  You may discover it's your path, you may decide it's not for you.  Only you can know that.

  5. You know the reason they shoot you down right? Its so that they can filter out all of the people who really want to act and have what it takes and separate them from the people who think that they want to act. They're trying to let only the strongest people get to where they want to be. That's why they are so negative. If you really want it, you have to ignore all the things they say unless its constructive because its all a strategy.

  6. You don't have a chance if you don't try. The BIGGEST actors all failed before they succeeded. You have to go for it all the time. You don't get the part. Who cares? Try out for the next one..and then the next one...and so on. Giving up should not be in an actor's vocabulary.

  7. If you're not prepared for a rude answer, you're probably not prepared for a career in acting. Get your head together, examine WHY you want to be an actor, and you'll find the answer to your question.
