I'm only supposed to wear my retainer at night but it doesn't fit comfortably

i'm only supposed to wear my retainer at night but every night when i put it in it doesn't fit comfortably at first so i have to bite down hard to get it to fit. is that normal?

Sounds like you need to call your orthodontist's office and get in for an adjustment.

If you have to bite down extremely hard and struggle for minutes before it finally fits, it might be because either you forgot to wear your retainers, causing a shift in your teeth, or your retainers may have morphed [mainly due to heat and pressure].  

If this happens, please contact your orthodontist.  

However, if you have to bite it slightly [and not struggle] for the retainers to fit, it's fine.

your teeth are moving, use the retainer day & night.

Absolutely. I wear a retainer too, the clear ones, because I had braces before. I put it on a night too, and it hurts at first. That's because your teeth are still really flexible and moves around a lot. It will get better gradually as you get older.
