  1. Why not call around your area to local day care's and see what they charge.  Just call and ask if you were to enroll your child what would the charge be?  This will allow you to be competitive in your local area.  Also touring local daycares would be good too.  This would allow you to see what other centers offer.  Request materials or information.  As long as they are under the impression you would like this information because you have a child you would possibly want to enroll, they are usually very helpful!

  2. They are right.   Call or visit other centers.

First, it depends on location.  Prices in New York will be twice as high as southern Illinois (an extreme example).  Prices even vary amongst neighborhoods.

Second, it depends what level of quality your center displays.  If it is clean, with wood materials - not plastic, maintains low student:teacher ratios, serves healthy food (not from a can), and most importantly employs awesome, dedicated, trained professionals then it is a high quality program.

  3. Good luck - that is an exciting venture!

I would say somewhere between $50 - $60/day - if you are supplying lunch - for the preschoolers - and more like $60 plus a day for the 0-2's.

Your competition will most likely be ABC so ring and ask them their charges - find out if they offer meals etc.  I would try to encourage kids over 3 years to bring their own lunch etc - it makes the accreditation process a little easier and is a school readiness thing. That way too you can focus on other areas.

    Have fun - how exciting!
