Well actually, It's for my sister and her kid. I was asked to help look for information. I think my sister would like a catholic curriculum for the state of New Mexico. If you are doing school, how did you go about it? What's the best and worst thing about homeschooling a teenager? Are there some online high school courses like novanet available to use on a home computer? I'm so lost. Most of the Home schooling is geared for mormons and christian families. You help and input would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Find the book "So You're Thinking About Homeschooling."

This is the book that my wife and I first read when you started out on this trek.  We've enjoyed it ever since.

  2. tell her to put her kid in school..

  3. Here's a link to the laws in New Mexico:

Seton is a catholic homeschooling curriculum.

Here is a list of some online options:

    Good luck!

  4. Hi--I do independent study online. It is great!! Check it out at www.keystonehighschool.com

  5. I went about it through my old high school, they suggested I go to my local homestudies school in the neighborhood. The best things about being homeschooled is you don't have to wake up in the morning, but you still have different work that you need to complete by a certain date. Bad things about it are you lack a bit socially, when it comes to making friends and all, you can't do that at home. But, I think homestudies is fine for those who need it/ prefer it, are going through different challenges at home or where ever. And homestudies here in California isn't only for Mormons or Christian families, it's quite open.

  6. Firstly, homeschooling is one of the best decisions you can ever make for your kids schoolwise - well at least it was for us. I use the maths power curiculum and its fantastic. There are several sites which are american (maths power is aussie) and they are good also. Just search homeschooling on google and you will have pages of answers :]

  7. Visit the Home School Legal Defense Assoc. Website, they have a wealth of info.

    Also visit  < www.greathomeschoolbooks.com>

There is a Catholic School in Maryland that publishes Homeschool Curriculum, I think they are called  The Seton School, < www.setonhome.org >
