I'm overstayed here in jp ^ my passport was expiredlast septebmer 2007, so can I renew it here in japan?

my 3months visa as tourist was issued in HK. as well as my passport that expired last sept.2007, Can I renew here without the immigration connection coz I'm not yet ready to go home.thanks for all the answer and more power to all timog forum japan

  1. no. japan is very strict about this. you could now be denied reentry into japan for a long time.


  2. Do you have a staying permission? You need to go to your country`s (i couldnt figure out what HK means)embassy to get a passport.  If you don't have that permission on your passport(even if it's not valid any more) they will ask you why you had stayed here for so long without having one. it's nothing to do with immigration.

  3. I am not sure where your passport is from, but you should be able to get a new passport without any trouble. They don't care about your visa status - just if you can legally hold your country's passport.

    However, if you have overstayed, then you are breaking Japanese law. That is an issue you'll have to take up with the Japanese government.
