  1. You would have only been given a P60 if you were still in the employment at the end of the tax year (5 April). If you left before then, you should have been given a P45. Either way, both of these are issued to you by your employer. You should ask them for the relevant certificate or, if they cannot issue a duplicate, a Statement of Earnings. You should then send this to your tax office with a letter or the relevant form.

  2. You haven't given enough information here. When did you leave the job? Was it before 5th April last? What have you been doing since? When did you start job? Was it before 6th April 2007? If not, what were you doing from 6th April until you started the job? What makes you think you are due a refund?

You can send form P45 to tax office, and ask for a review. Staff will get back to you if they need more information on your employment history.

If you leave in-year, you only get a form P45. To get a form P60, you have to be in the employment on 5th April.

  3. In the US, and I assume in the United Kindom, the employer must send the information about wages to the taxing authorities. So, if people don't get their wage info from their employer, they can go to the taxing authority who will give them the information needed to file a return.
