I'm planning a 25th reunion. Need some ideas and also we're having an arguement over DJ's.

Isn't it tacky to have a $50/ plate dinner and then have a DJ?

  1. No, it's not tacky to have a DJ at the reunion - - it's necessary!  A DJ can spin the songs that were popular 25 years ago, and music is a really important part of any reunion.  Even the very best 80's cover band (if you could find one) couldn't offer the variety of music that a good DJ could.  Go with the DJ! You want to get everyone out on that dance floor!

  2. A DJ might actually be better.  He can play the original songs that you listened to 25 yrs ago.  Most bands can't play the variety of music listened to, or don't play it very well ...

You could play a game where everyone gets a sheet of paper, with 20 questions on it, that have to be answered by questionning the other people:  1) find someone with 3 grandkids ... 2) find someone who lived in Europe ... 3) find someone who has skydived ....  Use your imagination for them:)  It gets people actually talking to their old friends, and finding out about them .....  Bottles of wine for prizes to the people with the most answers.....

  3. 25th HIGH SCHOOL grad. reunion, right?

The above poster had some great ideas.

I'll add that my 25th was $65 a plate and we had good turnout.

Watch out on that DJ argument...some people have an agenda that they want to use their "brother-in-law" The abover poster was right again, you want an experienced DJ who knows the music of your "era"--well. That should be the deciding factor.

Other ideas...Make name tags that include a picture (from the yearbook) with the name...have all the attendees fill out the form, married/single? # of kids? Occupation? etc, etc and then compile a book--I know that'll up the cost but it's WORTH IT. I keep mine to this day.

Also there are companies that do this professionally, you can look them up on websites for more ideas, but if you do it yourselves it comes out much, much better, and cheaper.
