  1. When I had a house warming party, I had the them as Hillbilly or Black Tie. The get up people wore was awesome!!! I started out wearing a really glamourous evening dress, then slipped into my  hill billy dress with an apron on and with a scarf on my head. I play the violin so I cranked out the fiddle, and a friend had a gee tar!

I also had a farmer friend who brought me about six hay bales that I put around the patio for people to sit on.

I had a bath tub full of ice, and home made sign saying "l****r", and on the barbecue I had one saying "food" , and on the toilet door I had one saying "Outhouse"

and so on.. the signs were done on big torn off slabs of cardboard, and roughly painted with a brush and paint.

I made a punch (1 bottle ginger ale, one tetra pak of coconut pine juice, one tetra pak of orange mango juice, one bottle of malibu or the cheap nasty version, one can of fruit salad, and cut up fresh fruit- VERY POPULAR!)

The costumes were great! some people combined the black tie and hilbilly theme and some just went all out in one or the other.

I also played hill billy music and a little classical amongst the rest of the toons...

    Best of luck with it.

That was just one suggestion, but fancy dress is always a winner, especially for house warmings!!!

  2. There was someone on the radio the other day that had a Rubix Cube party.

Basically everyone invited had to where 6 different colours so for example:  A white hat, red top, blue trousers, yellow shoes e.t.c.

Aim of the game being, to be wearing one colour by the end of the evening, by getting people to swap clothes with you!

I thought it was funny, unless they were all over 60, in which case............stick to Scrabble

  3. We recently had a party and it was "Hawaiian" so we made the tropics come to us. We had about 50 people and decided to cater by making "Hawaiian Burgers" on the BBQ which was inexpensive and a real success with the guests. As all you need are bread rolls, patties, lettuce, onion, eggs, pineapple, cheese and tomato.

To decorate we just bought cheap bright hawaiian style prints, and sarongs and hung them around the yard and had some torches burning for that extra effect with luau music playing in the background.

We asked our guest come brightly dressed (as to get a hawaiian printed shirt is easy).

We hired a cocktail ice machine which catered for about 120 drinks and most of the guests brought their own too. We also made a non-alcoholic fruit punch too.

Simple easy and affordable, and the photos look great because everyone is in bright colours!
