  1. sandwiches, potatoe or pasta salads, fruit is a must (even if it's just watermelon cubes or grapes), maybe some chips. And for desert some freshly baked cookies or buy an individual birthday cake (topped with candles) for the two of you to split. And i'd pack it in a cooler... it's 2008 no one uses picnic baskets anymore. lol

  2. A fun and convenient way to pack picnic food is in those cardboard chinese take-out containers.  You can eat right out of them and then just toss them away.

Food could be some kind of pasta, at this time of year a basil pesto sauce over penne would be delicious, garnished with a few cherry tomatoes for color.

Mixed green salad with feta cheese

A rotisserie chicken from the supermarket cut into serving sized pieces

tomato and mozzarella slices garnished with fresh basil

pita pockets that you can stuff everything into

The all time best picnic dessert is cupcakes, imo.  You can decorate a few and serve them with candles.   Much easier and less messy than cake, and just as delicious.

Since he's 21, a nice bottle of champagne or sparkling wine wouldn't hurt!

You can buy really colorful bags at www.orientaltrading.com to pack everything in.

While you're there, take a look at the various types of confetti they carry.  Sprinkling confetti is always an inexpensive way to dress up a picnic table or blanket.

If you can, try to bring really nice linens, tablecloth and napkins tied with pretty ribbon, and "real" flatware.  It's always nice to add a touch of elegance and romance to a picnic. I'm sure it will make your boyfriend feel very special and loved!

Hope you have a great time!

  3. do alot of fruit, maybe some grilled chicken sandwitches, nice summery foods

  4. Luau Party

Even if you don't have access to a pool, you can create a luau in your own backyard. Find cheap party supplies at http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/shared... add some music and tropical foods, including punch, pineapple, coconut, etc. Then, dance, play games, etc

    Hawaiian Grilled Hamburgers

    Fruit salad

  5. Angel Delight

    -------------

Fresh (sliced and crushed to juice them up) or frozen strawberries

    Non fat cool whip

    Angel food cake

    Drained canned pineapple

    Bananas - 2-4

Break the cake into pieces and add and mix the remaining ingredients

This is a wonderful and popular dish that you can make at a picnic right before serving...  it is a hit AND delicious and NOT FATTENING.

Hope This Helps a little bit

    HOtttttttt  Dogggggggg
