I'm planning a vacation to Venice , Italy so where is the best place to fly into?

There isn't one in Venice but you could probably go to one nearby. Hope you have a great time in Italy though. It's beautiful!!!!!!!

You can fly directly to Venice, although depending where you are departing from, it may be less expensive to fly to Rome.  Florence does not receive many incoming flights, most visitors to Florence fly to Pisa and take ground transportation to Florence, so that would not be your best option.  One possibility is to purchase air tickets to Rome and then use an inexpensive European airline to fly to Venice.  Ryanair provides service to/from Venice, and if booked early enough in advance they charge as little as 10 euros each way.  It is not a high class airline, but certainly economical.  Compare prices flying directly to Venice or combining a Rome+Venice travel itinerary to get the best result.

It depends on where you're coming from. Venice has two airports - Marco Polo and Treviso. Treviso serves budget airlines line Ryanair and Transavia. If you're coming from Amsterdam or another city with budget flight connections, Treviso can be a low cost option. Verona is another possibility. If you're flying from overseas and connecting somewhere other than Italy, look for a flight to Venice from your connection point.

If you're flying directly from overseas to Italy and there isn't a flight to Venice, then Milan is usually more convenient. There's a bus from the airport (any of the three) to Milano Centrale train station and frequent trains to Venice.

I fly into either Verona or Bologna most of the time because they're closer to where I live, but I would use the Venice airports more frequently if I lived a little closer to Venice.

Venice is ON THE WATER FRONT so I would fly to New York and boat across the Atlantic and arrive IN PORT on the steps of the Venice City Hall.

You'll avoid all those airport landing fees, cab fare, rental cars, the language barrier, OH, and HEY!!!, you'll be LOOOOOKIN gooood steppin' off your own rented yacht onto the streets of Venice.

Marco Polo (VCE) is the closest airport.  

Some international flights connect through Rome; some go to other European cities (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, etc.) and then fly directly to VCE.  

It all depends on the airline and when you're going.

Well Venice has an international airport...but I guess Florence could work too as I believe it's a bit closer to Venice than Roma is.

I flew to Milan from Bucharest, Romania and then drove to Verona (very close to Venice).

Venice. They have an airport... I used to live in Italy, and we always flew into Venice. It's pretty big actually. I can't believe you would fly into an airport on the opposite side of the country you plan to visit...

id probably say rome but im not 100 percent sure. i went to venice last summer. it was amazing. :) you will love it. theres a lot of birds everywhere though. lol.

Rome, there are trains that can take you the rest of the way non stop.
