I'm planning on backpacking in Europe but I'm bit of a pack rat. What are the biggest backpacks out there?

I think Gregory Whitney might have what I'm looking for but I'm open to anything.

  1. I think at the store "Gander Mountain" (if you have that store around where you live right now) they'd have a lot of really big backpacks...

That store specializes in camping supplies.

  2. The biggest packs I've ever seen are about 90 litres. Mountain Equipment Co-op is a great place to get them, if you live in Canada.

I really wouldn't take anything much bigger than that, you won't need all that stuff (unless you're bringing a tent, sleeping bag etc, and even then, that's a lot of stuff!) 90 Litres is pretty big, you could probably get away with a 75 litre pack, 60 for the main pack and a zip on/off 15 litre day pack.

  3. don't take the biggest unless it is also the one that you are willing to carry for long periods of time when it's stuffed and you're tired and sweaty.  have a great time and travel light!

Mountain Co-op, Toronto, has a great selection.

    check this one out...

  4. I use a 100 liter rucksack. Jack murphy to be precise but any brand name wont let you down. Pick a neutral color, such as red or green. Try and get one with a detachable day sack, believe me you don't want it stolen. Carry a mini first aid kit torch compass etc.
