  1. no for ur first bike u should buy a used bike and make sure it isnt too big for you to handle for now. ur gonna drop ur first bike a million times so it isnt wise to spend a lot of money on a bike thats gonna get banged up

  2. NO!!!! Take the course and test first. Then think about the type of riding you want to do. This should determin the type and CC of bike you need and want!! If you rush in it will COST YOU!!!!!

  3. I would recommend going for lessons and waiting until the instructors tell you are safe to drive on your own or are ready for the test.

I suppose it depends on the law where you come from. I live in Northern Ireland so we can get a 125 cc bike without passing any tests, but once we pass our test we are limited to a bike with power beneath 33 bhp for 2 years. After that we can get what we want.

It depends on the law where you are and what you need in a bike. Here 125 cc bikes hold their value well because there are always people looking for them, whereas more powerful bikes depreciate quickly.

I would say the important thing is sit down and work out how long you will have the bike for and factor in depreciation. If you are planning on having it for about 5 years or more, then certainly go for a new one. If not, then buy a used one.

A lot of people here do their test on a bike from the motorcycle school and then buy one after they finish their test. It is expensive at the time, but they don't have to worry about depreciation, fuel, insurance and equipment so it may work out cheaper overall. Once they pass the test they can go out and buy a bike which they really want.

  4. nope, because you might not like riding motorcylces at all once u start, may wreck it, ect...take it slow.  my first bike wasnt new and i still love it.                   ...theres not really a need to get a new bike unless you cant find ANYBODY selling a reasonable bike for a fair price.  hope that helps

  5. My husband rides.

    He's 28.

Glad we went with a used for him to learn on.

First accident was on the way home from buying the bike!

    Get some practice in first.

  6. most new riders will need to buy a smaller bike to ride first year or so, then as they get better will want a larger bike. You will loose to much if you buy a new bike and sell/trade in later. make your first one a used bike, and your second bike, 1 to 2 years later a new bike that you will want to have 4for years !

  7. There are Two types of riders, those that have dropped their bike and those that will. New riders tend to join the First group rather quickly. Why not buy used to learn on for a Year or Two before making the investment in a New machine.

  8. well dont have to be new... but has to be in good shape

  9. No, I would buy something used.  My first bike was a 82 Honda 250 Custom and I laid it down a couple of times.  You can get some GREAT deals right now too.
