I'm planning to have my wedding on Halloween of 2009. Any good ideas for it in general?

I want it to remain classy but still have a fun and festive vibe to it. I really don't want it to be all purple, black, and orange... I really don't have anything planned yet though.

  1. Add a costume theme if you really want to have fun with it.  Just make sure your guests keep them in good taste and not over the top.  I had one Halloween bride hire a classic hearse as her limo and the guests either wore costumes or carried the little masks on a stick as i like to call them.

  2. If you have a membership with The Knot (its free and easy if you do not) go here (you might be able to without a membership , I'm not sure)

    http://wedding.theknot.com/real-weddings...

the pages there are filled with fall wedding ideas , some with the halloween colours that look very classy , and others with not so traditional Halloween colours that look just as spectacular.  I hope this helps!!

  4. i am also getting married on halloween 2009!!!

i want it to be very classy and sophisticated through dinner then after dinner i want to have the fun halloween stuff to start.

my colors are pumpkin and brown.  i decided against black because if i did brown i felt it took me from strictly halloween-themed to more of a fall feel.

our favor is a "candy bar"  we are going to have paper bags made that say "thank you" on them, and big jars of candy like an old-fashioned candy store, and people can fill their bags with the candy-hey, its halloween, why not?!

the centerpieces are pumpkins, but each table will be different.  some of them are going to be carved (i have a friend who does it professionally every year, so i got kinda lucky), some of them will just have the tops cut off and flowers coming out of them, some of them will be decorated with glass-glitter, and all of them will have tea-lights around them.

those are just some ideas, bc i have a lot of ideas going on in my head! if you want more, feel free to email me: meaghankevil@yahoo.com, i would love to share any ideas with you, i pretty much have every aspect of my wedding planned right now!  good luck! hope to hear from you!

  5. I am also planning a Fall '09 wedding.  As part of my planning, I have seen some really cute apple centerpieces (greens and reds).  You can also do these as caramel apples either prepared in advance or done as fondue at the table.

Alternatively, there are some cute centerpieces that are small gourds/pumpkins that are hollowed out and have a candle in them.

  6. I'm having my wedding on that day as well.  The ceremony will have an Old Hollywood, 1940's look to it.  Our colors are black, white, and dark red.  The reception will have more of an old mansion look.  Black table clothes, red velvet table runners, and candles everywhere.  We want it to feel dark and mysterious, yet very elegant as well.  We'll then toss in a few strategically placed bats, spiderwebs/spiders, and perhaps a coffin or two.  We want the reception to be more of a Halloween party than wedding reception (which we think are usually boring), but we still want to keep some of the elegance that we'll have at the ceremony.

There are so many things you can do.  Remember, a reception is supposed to be the time that family and friends celebrate with you.  Don't listen to people who say you can't do themes or you can't do ____ because it's tacky.  Most important is to forget the formalities and just make it fun!  Good luck!
