  1. Toronto has more things to do but the hockey fans there are idiots.

  2. Ottawa gets a bad rap as being too boring, too white and too small.  Depending on what you are in to, however, it can be a really nice city. It's rich, good restaurants, lots of sports and a lot of cultural events.  It's also really close to the Gatineau Hills - a park outside of the city which is really beautiful any time of the year.  Its not too big so its easy to get out of.  And, it is only about a 2 hour drive to Montréal which is one of North America's best cities to be in - on par with New York, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, San Fransisco or LA.  The only real problem with Ottawa is that it is really, really cold in the winter.

  3. What do you want to know?

The city is spread out, really white, and has great festivals/events that happen downtown.  It's a great town for bringing up a family or taking it easy, but if you're a student it's probably not the most interesting place you could go in North America.

  4. Smaller, but nicer than Toronto.

    Although not very friendly :S

  5. Compare to Toronto, Ottawa is smaller, quieter, and cleaner. Live here is simple.....maybe a little too boring to somebody, but I love it a lot. A great place for my family and my kids to be in. Make me feel safe and comfortable. Oh, the only thing I hate here is there are not too much place or brand you can shop.

  6. There IS no comparison for me, as I thank my parents for

choosing to settle down here!  Let's see.. besides the weather, because we're in Lower Ontario and in a valley, is nicer.. the winds not as harsh..

Ottawa is one of the cleanest, nicest and most importantly

    Safest cities in Canada.

Queen Victoria chose it as Canada's capital because of

the location - between two larger cities, Montreal and Toronto, and also for safety reasons should there be a gov.t uprising. She had great Intuition!

I've lived here all my life... We have many shopping Centres,

and large outlet chains (The Gap, Sears, name it)!

The movie theaters are great, the transit system wonderful,

(every 20 min.'s most days to 1/2 hour at night/weekends), and you can access almost anything - go from West Ottawa to East cheaply.

We have many museums and art galleries, due to the tourism.. Eating is great.. You can eat on the Byward Market, find great dining on the water, or fast food almost anywhere!

You can paddle-boat or rent a canoe at Dow's Lake in the heart of Ottawa, also. And then go eat dinner.

Clubs are also plentiful, especially downtown. There is also the Casino in Gatineau, a short jump over the Bridge, and accessible by Outaouais bus..

It is relatively cheaper to live here. Stick with renting through a reputable company. It is on the average about $800.00 to $1,000.00/for a 1 bdrm., but a clean, good one. and $850.00 to $1, 150./per month for a 2 bdrm, but the higher the prices, the more amenities. A lot of these include pools.

I love it here. I don't often have to go further than downtown to do almost anything! And the bikepaths are scenic.
