I'm purchasing a newly constructed condo?

Does the condo need to be inspected by a licensed inspector? My worry is the soundness of the roof, leaks under the sink or air seeping through windows.

  1. Make the inspection a condition of the sale, in other words any problems found during the inspection, must be taken care of as a condition of the sale.

Building inspectors just check for code violations, and sometimes not that closely.

Hire your own inspector - someone not affiliated with the builders and maybe from another county.

  2. if its newly constructed not just remodeled  it has been inspected by city or county inspectors, some jurisdictions are more thorough than others, there are  private inspectors you can hire, check with the local better business bureau or local contractors association to find one.

  3. That would be a good idea.  You will feel better when you move in. If there are any problems you can get them fix before. Good Luck

  4. lf you are that worried , 1 thing you can do it put paper towels in each cabinet, under the plumbing, chech them at closing, or before. lf just 1 drop fell the paper towel will be slightly distorted where it landed. lf you have your doubts about this condo's construction, think twice about buying it. lts a buyers market, big time ! Good Luck !
