I have one bed already...with tomatos, eggplant, cucs, squashes, etc. We had enough timber and dirt to put another one in...what is going to grow quickly and well this late in the season.

  1. by late in the season do you mean heading on to autumn, if so you can grow parsnips, beetroot, brocolli, maybe some carrots, have a go at what you like to eat, even silver beet

  2. How about some herbs. Basil plants grow like weeds and so does cilantro and chives. I planted seeds and had a large full grown plant in 3 weeks. Basil can be frozen also. I made pesto and it was awsome.

  3. Depending upon your location here a few suggestions:

-Radishes about every two weeks all summer long

-Swiss chard has lots of time

-Carrots and parsnips should still have time if started now (will be small at maturity)

-Bush beans (plant a tri-color pack of seeds as some will be earlier maturing and soak for 24 hours before planting to ensure a quick start)

-Peas in early August for a late September crop

-Onions from seed in the first week of August for an over-wintering crop (will mature early next season)

    -Lettuce mid to late August

-Broad beans in mid-October (Windsor variety overwinters exceptionally well and will harvest early June)

-Garlic in mid-October for a July harvest

  4. Carrots and potatoes for next year. Turnips and parsnips for Winter, and cabbage if you don't mind small heads.
