Can I get away without removing the toilet and bath (which has claw feet, not a panel)? Will the floor look ok if the vinyl is cut round these?

  1. You can get away with it but it will look CRAPPY!

No offense intended, but why not do it right the first time?  You really won't be happy with the way it looks if you don't :)

  2. the best thing for you to do is call a floor man/woman to do the vinyl properly.  you *could* cut around th toilet and tub, but it would be highly noticeable.  call a floor person; it won't cost as much as you might think.

  3. I have a claw foot tub in my bathroom as well and had no problem cutting around the feet , the toilet and my pedestal sink. if you are using sheet vinyl this will not work, but with the tiles it worked for me.

I only did this as a temporary fix, since I am planning on having the bathroom completely renovated in the next 2 or 3 years, and I had to cover what was there because I hated it.

The key is to pick a tile that you can find caulk that matches, the tile I used was basically white so i simply caulked around any edges that I cut short, but if you take your time measuring and cutting no one would know the difference.

  4. its real hard to cut around toliet without  leaving gaps-it can be done-better to pull it all up if your laying a solid sheet-if your using tile squares then you can loosen toliet some and tilt it over in order to fit under it-tub same way
