I'm ranked in the top 20 on WSOP for 360, do you think I'll do okay in Vegas?

Whenever new WSOP games come out for 360 I play nonstop for 2-3 months.. then get bored with it. I have always been ranked in top 20, 50 in some bad situations.

Do you think I'll be able to make a killing when I make it to Vegas next month? When I play with my friends I get too bored easily.. haha

  1. There's only one way to find out.

Find a nice low stakes game like $1/$2 and buy in for the max.  Then see how it goes.

Alternatively find a cheap tournament (like $75 or less) in the back of Card Player magazine (they list all the tournaments going on in Vegas).  And see how you do.

  2. if ur playin vegas against pros, i cant see u getting bored very easily lol. goodluck, and yeah i reckon you can do well. just dont get arrogant towards other players, thats what i did when i playd my first tourny

  3. I've never played on there, but I'd imagine they play much like fake money players at online sites. I don't know that you'll win or lose, just don't assume you're going to cream everyone because you can lay waste to 12 year olds in Minnesota.

Before you go, I'd recommend you focus on developing a good poker face. The biggest difference between live and non-live poker is being able to look people in the face and see what they're thinking. If you wear your emotions on your sleeve, you will get killed.

  4. i've never played it on the 360 so i'm not sure how good a 20 ranking is.  are there a lot of people on it?  i would test yourself by  playing in a couple tournaments at the casino and see how you place.  or play a little online and see how well you do.

  5. For a more realistic comparison, open an online account at full tilt or pokerstars.  This is where real poker players play.

  6. I don't know what 360 is, but if it is play money, forget about it.  Even if you play real money on-line, there is nothing like sitting down at a real poker table, in a brick and mortar casino for learning how to play poker.   If you get bored playing with your friends or in any other situation, forget about poker, period.  Even if you are not in a hand, you need to be paying attention  to the game.  I try to guess what everyone is holding, after doing that for years, I have gotten pretty good at it.  Poker is war with cards and money, and like any warfare, you have to have good intel to make the right moves, to win.  Boredom in poker is like boredom in combat, you will get killed (in poker figuratively).
