I'm reading a book about Mary Seymour, and was wondering if she really taught Elizabeth Tudor?

  1. I doubt it very much.  If she had lived, history would have recorded her career, and it's generally thought that little Mary died at around the age of two, disappearing from history.

    It's such a sad story; Katherine Parr finally married her Thomas Seymour only to die in childbirth.  And then Thomas was executed, leaving Mary an orphan in the care of the Duchess of Suffolk.  There are no records after that.

  2. Elizabeth was 15 years old when Mary Seymour was born. I thought that in "The Red Queen's Daughter" (fiction) Mary grows up to become a "lady in waiting" at the court of Elizabeth.

    = I'm confused by the use of your word "taught". Elizabeth was one of the best educated women in the world in her day. What could the much younger Mary who was raised in poverty teach Elizabeth?
