when i use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs with 2.4x speed, does this mean they should run slower on my xbox 360 when compared to 8x discs, or does the speed only apply to the disc creation????? will they work with my games if i write them to the discs. i already have it modded and used other VERY VERY VERY VERY expensive discs, and they work. just need some advice. thanks!!! =]

  1. The speed numbers on the disc refer only to the maximum write speed at which data can be write effectively. ( 1X=1.32 MB/sec)

This has no effect on the playback of the disc. I have used all types of discs and found that you don't need the most expensive ones to get good results. Just pick up some of the cheaper ones and try them out and if the give you trouble just move up in price.

  2. Yes, the numbers pertain to the write speed, as shincaykid has said.

However, I have been led to believe, that, the slower the burn, the better quality the reproduction.  Hence, I burn everything at the slowest possible speed.

Also, I agree that you don't need the most expensive discs out there, but I would avoid, Tuff Discs, like the plauge.  They are cheap, reconditioned discs, the worst piece of media I've ever used.
