  1. You should go to the hospital and ask to speak to someone, a professional is the only on that can help you. Not people on here.

  2. Although I can never put myself in someone else's shoes, I know what you're describing. I'm your age (19), and I feel as if I've worked the entire summer away. It seems like I went to bed on the 15th of May and am just now waking up on August 4th. When I do have the time to see friends, all I do is end up drinking and I feel like c**p because then on top of that I don't eat a proper diet. It's kind of a cycle, you know?

I know it really sucks to be depressed, and up until now I've had a very depressing summer. What helped me was to network. Go out and do something you like. Go for a walk, or talk to someone at work. You never know who you might meet. I didn't think I'd make any friends at my job- they were all old ladies- but I met a girl through them that used to work there that I'm now friends with, and 3 younger girls also started work that I'm chummy with now.

I know the last thing you probably want to do is get yourself out there, but give yourself a push and some self-confidence. The summer is almost over unfortunately- enjoy it while you can, it's the best season of the year. There are so many things you can't do in the winter. Get some exercise- you'll feel better, trust me! I didn't think it would work, but I played soccer with my new friend today, and all I wanted to do afterwards was get more exercise (and this is coming from a couch potato).

Just fill your life with things to do and you will eventually find yourself feeling better. Set some goals, too. Is there something you can look forward to? College? doing well in your job? etc.

I'm sorry to hear you're feeling this way but hang in there and hope I helped!

  3. Do you keep a journal? This can be an inexpensive alternative to seeing a counselor. Try getting out, see if any continuing ed classes at your local community college and/or university interest you. It'll not only help you meet people but may introduce you to a new hobby that may relieve stress.

  4. Go to college or take some dance classes or art classes. Join some type of club or learn to play an instrument. Break out of your habit of isolating yourself from the world. You won't regret it  , be BRAVE!

  5. You should talk to your doctor about this.  There are medicines that will help you feel much better.  Depression is a chemical imbalance in your brain and is nothing to be ashamed of.

  6. Make some friends, go out and have fun. Get a boyfriend. Sounds like your depression is taking over your life, there is a prescription for that its called Cymbalta. Talk to your doctor about that.
