  1. Is it haunted?

  2. It is Irwin Road

  3. Irwin Road, in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh in North Park on the way to Wexford, is a road that's said to have an eerie blue mist that covers it from time to time, and so it's earned the nickname "Blue Mist Road". Several investigators have tried to debunk or otherwise figure out what's happening, as many have claimed that the mist's proximity to a graveyard mean that it is linked to ghosts or the spirit realm.

But in 2005, when a group of investigators publicly announced their findings from an investigation turned up very little to explain it, several people denounced it as an incomplete investigation. What the group found was termed "an orb" which was blue in color, lit from within, and which seemed to dart around for several minutes.

The blue mist itself appears to require the same conditions that fog needs in order to manifest naturally. To date, nobody has offered verifiable photographs of anything supernatural in the mist. Because of this, many people have dismissed it as an urban legend.

It should be noted that the photograph (see the second link in "sources"... and thanks to whoever actually took the photo!) shows a vaguely blue mist, but one which doesn't really seem unnaturally so. A similar mist effect occurs near several hot springs year-round, though not as extensively as the mist in the Blue Mist Road phenomenon. The nearby wetlands are the most likely culprit for scientific explanations, but nobody has really gone out to discover the truth with equipment sufficient for doing so. To be honest, most paranormal investigators just aren't equipped.

Hope this answers your question about where Blue Mist Road is, as well as what it is (for those who aren't familiar with it).

  4. The road that has been called the Blue Mist Road is the part of Irwin Road that connects North Park to Wexford.  I've been out to this part of town, and despite the fact that it's deserted and dark, I've never sensed anything too spooky going on there.

I added some other links to places around Pittsburgh that are reputed to be haunted.  Enjoy!
