I'm terrified of the fact that I'm going to high school this year.

I'm scared I'm going to embarrass myself or get lost.

Will someone please make me feel better?

Like how was your first day of high school?

  1. It's just a School, and after a few weeks. You will see it's still like Elementary Schools. The people have to make a few more choices involving their schedule and classes. My first week at HighSchool the Girls were wearing clothes that took my attention off things so much. It caused me to walk into a Post. Luckily the Girls already had passed by so I'm the only one that knew it happened. I would try to hook up with a friend just before getting to School. A friend  along with will make that first day. A little less tremendous to be there.

  2. You will be fine. The less time you spend worrying about it, the happier you will be! My first day was pretty cool, even though I was late to my first class because of a friend lol. When you get there, just start a convo with somebody that you think you would like to be friends with. Don't worry, after your first day, you will see it wasn't that bad.

PS: an experience is only as fun as you make it. Have a great time! :)

  3. I was terrified on the first day too.  It was really helpful for me to get a ride on the first day from my best friend.  Even though we didnt have classes together, we could hang out for a little while before class started, which really helped.  Another thing to think about is to be confident.  If you feel good about yourself, the whole experience will be better.  No matter what you do, you will be nervous.  But after the first two or three days, you should pretty well know where all your classes are and have started to make some new friends and settle in to this new school:]

  4. Honestly I was freaked out. There really is no reason to. No upper classmen do anything to you or anything like the movies. It'll feel like your first day of middle school. You won't embarress yourself. Lots of people get lost the first couple days. At my highschool most people don't use lockers because they usually aren't around your classes, and think of people just moving here that are sophomores or juniors. I think you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure your friends are legit, and don't always try to hold on to the middle school friends because those sometimes drift apart. You need to make sure friends are there 150% for you, because alot of the friendships in highschool come out to be fake or brake apart. Just make sure you have a good support system to fall back upon.

  5. high school really isn't as bad as they make it out to be in movies and books

it's actually a lot better than middle school

yes it's a new school but don't be afraid to ask for directions...we've all been a scared and confused freshman at one point and know what it's like to be in your spot

if anything, ask directions from someone who looks quiet and keeps to themselves...the obnoxious ones are the ones to look out for

you'll get to meet so many new people and make new friends...it might take a while but you'll definitely adjust

and don't worry about embarassing yourself...nothing ever happens on the first day of school

just walk in with your head raised high and a smile on your face and look for a group of people you know

no one's gonna bother you and two weeks from that first day you'll look back and wonder what was so scary about it

  6. I had your exact same fears.

The first year of high school can be pretty rough. You're finding new friends, and some of them may not be very good friends.

But the most important thing is to seriously stay true to yourself. Love yourself! If people don't like you, get over it. Don't try to impress them and lie. And don't just shy away from all the activity. Be active in your school! Join a sports team, or a team of some other kind.

But don't just sit back and watch all the action from the sidelines, or you'll regret it.

And, don't procrastinate! You always go in thinking the work is easier than it is. Try really hard at first, then learn where you can afford to slack off a little.

But don't be scared. I was terrified of getting lost, but sometimes at orientation they'll have maps or for freshman they'll allow you to go see where your classes are. So just enjoy high school. :]

  7. i was SO scared for my first day of high school last year. but everyone was basically in the same position as me. i just went i and tried to make the best out of my day. and the stories of getting really lost or anything aren't that true. if you freak and have no idea where you're going just go to the nearest teacher and ask them where that classroom or place is. they'll be happy to help you, that's what they're there for (well besides teaching you of course.) it really isn;t as bad as it seems. and if itc comes down to it, just face your fears, and definitely try to be nice to everyone. that's how you make friends :]

    i hope i helped.

best of luck on your first day :]

  8. girl you are going to be fine.just be open minded an ask people questions about anything your curious to know. ask teachers for directions.they are there to help ya know?an dont be afraid or embarrassed at all.you will be another one of the many freshmen there feeling the same way believe me!

  9. oh my gosh, the first day of high school is amazing!

i'm just starying grade ten, so i know what you're going through! It's so cool to change classes, have a cafeteria, a locker yatta yatta yatta. Tip: you will never get lost! if your school has a barbe-q at the end of august or something go there and familiarize yourself with the school!

    HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!!!

  10. Everyone's first day of high school is scary, exciting, and a bit intimidating. Change is always a little difficult. Remember that your first few months of high school will be a lot different than your entire high school career. If it's scary and weird at first, it won't always be like that. You'll get the hang of it.

You are laying the foundation for the rest of your life. It's all about options. If you get good grades and get involved, you'll have the option to go to (almost) any college you choose, which is where the real fun begins! Your four years of high school will go faster than you think, so make the most of it.

Avoid extremes...Try to be friends with everyone, and I mean everyone, that you meet. Give everyone a chance because they are just as scared as you are. Good luck! You have so much to look forward to!

  11. Everything will be fine, the first day will be a little scary but you will soon get used to your surroundings. I'm going to the 12th this year so i understand how you are feeling.

  12. Every entering high school as a freshman is nervous and has just about the same fears that you have. So just think your not the only one that feels this way. It's actually a good way to start a conversation with new people, since you's are both experiencing this for the first time together. Plus the teacher's are already prepared for freshman to get lost and be nervous so they give you some slack for a while until you get use to everything.
