Hey,

I'm in college in the US, and I'm a pretty good student. But when it comes to english I'm like bottom of the class (I'm usually top of the class for other subjects). I don't know what's wrong, i listen in class an all, is there a specific way to study and be good at english??? Since I'm starting college I want to be more serious, as English is an important subject. So any advice would be much appreciated.I want to know how to study and be really good at english. Thanks in Advanced

  2. well, English is made up of certain parts...

For grammar, study it like crazy, and make sure you can remember each different aspect of what was taught, to the point where you can teach it back to someone if you had to.

For literature and writing papers, get into the subject.. read and re-read, things, you'll always come across something new.. also, take notes and try to make sure that you've got everything down, and fully understand the story. For papers, it's the same if you have book sources, and just use what you know (or go to a dictionary to use higher level vocabulary, for extra points). Also, don't be afraid to ask your professor if you don't understand. That's why they went through years of schooling to teach at a college level -- to understand and help their students. ;D It's not hard to do well at English, you just have to understand it!

  3. Most colleges have tutors available. Take advantage of them, they really help.  Or sometimes  you can find study groups, where students help each other.  Good luck!
