I'm replacing my front door?

I'm replacing my front door on my 78 year old house. I'm concerned about the frame so only going to get the slab. Any recomendations on type of wood door? Oak? Mahogheny? Fir? we live in a northern climate.

either one of those is well, depending on sun rays, water penetration.

I would recommend that the frame be install at the same time.

frame to match is easier to reset, matching wood to door for staining and repainting etc.
