It seems to be fiberglass, and is 20-40 years old. We aren't replacing the tub itself, just the surround. The tub is in a 3 sided alcove, and the current surround is in 3 pieces.

Do I need to turn off the water and remove the faucet hardware and all that?

  1. Try prying it off.........you may get lucky.......if not cut the sht rock out and replace it......and put the new kit it........yes you will have to disconnect valves and all the works......if your careful..........you may leave it for a while........good luck. Look for signs of rot........nows the time to fix.
