Hi

I'm trying to restore a very old photo. The photo is very distorted with creases, cracks and... on the photo theres a dark patch were it look like someones spilt something on it.

I've just finished restoring three photos, but they were very easy to repair, compared to this photo.

Is there any good "free" software to repair such distorted photos? Because I'm restoring these photos as a favour, i really don't want to be buying software. So does anyone know any free good editing software to repair photos? ty

  1. Hi Scott

The best software and that is what most magazines use including ours is, Corel, InDesign or Photoshop.

Corel Photo-Paint is much easier than Photoshop and less of a memory hogger.

You can download trial version of Photoshop AND AS LAST RESORT ...Gimp

  2. I would work with a picture of your picture.  Check out Photoshop Elements and see if they have any trial offers.  Photo Wizard is OK too.  Good luck

  3. The best free software is Gimp: http://www.gimp.org/
