I look and act young, and am not ready to stay at home all the time. I am, however, ready to leave behind the long hours and stress of a 30 year teaching career.

  1. Try your local library. If you're good working with kids, most libraries can use extra hands in their kid's departments putting together reading lists, organizing activities, and such.

If you're ready to put all that behind - any job that requires people skills and organization you'd be good at. You might want to pursue other interests, go back to college (it's not too late) and look at a second career.

You have a lot of time to look forward to - enjoy it!

  2. You are good at dealing with people, at organizing, at managing, at acting, at motivating, at keeping good records, at listening, at learning something quickly and then presenting it to others.  You probably have good writing skills and great reading skills.

If you don't need money right away, try volunteering.  Most larger towns and cities have a Volunteer Bureau where they give you an extensive interview to find out what you would be interesting in doing.  You might find a job through volunteer work.

Have fun in your retirement.  You've earned it.

  3. How about tutoring after school, teaching cheerleading, tumbeling, dancing, etc. Running summer camps, homeschooling sick or disabled kids, teaching in a childrens hospital, there are so many opportunities if you love kids.

  4. Become a Teacher On Call..   still get to teach without all the hassles of doing report cards, dealing with parents, etc.  You get to go home when the kids do.

  5. Try daycare - you can work part-time, too!  A licensed childcare facility would love someone with your experience!  How about a Sunday school teacher - again, can be very part-time.  How about doing some consulting or writing a book.  Tutoring, for sure!
