I'm scared, I'm about to be in serious college debt?

So I was supposed to be going to Boston University and they gave me 28,900 for the year, the rest I was going to take out in loans, about 20K per year. If that isn't bad, my sister is in college as well, going to NYU, then it turned out she's a little ahead of her class and her required courses won't be available until spring, so she was forced to take off this semester until January. This just sprung up, and with the sibling enrollment verification form BU requested, they cut off 10,400 from my original aid, down to 18,500 and Boston costs up to 48K per year. Now I made a plea. It wasn't our fault, my sis was going to go to college, but now the circumstances won't permit her to go until fall and the aid they're giving me now is just unreasonable. I don't know what to do now, it's either I take out more loans, like 30K or start applying to CUNY's. But applying to college now, I feel like such a loser, like I never had plans. But I had so many plans!

  1. I worked until I saved enough money to pay cash for my college tuition.  Sure, I went 2 years later than my friends, but I graduated in the black, and they were still paying, with interest.  Sign up for co-op work terms as you go - then you'll get money and academic credit every other semester.

  2. Find a cheaper school.  If you can't afford it you can't afford it.  It doesn't matter where you get your degree from, just that you got it.  Would you rather be a Boston Univeristy dropout or a State Univ.  grad?

Two weeks after you start your first job out of college, your boss won't even remember where you got your degree from... trust me!!
