My mom is going to get her face checked out this week because this growth on her face (it just looks like a pimple,it's not like huge...but it's not a pimple,it's been there for almost a year) and I'm just so scared.Growths don't just show up for no reason,I'm so worried I mean, what if she has skin cancer(I already had to deal with one family member passing away from cancer and one who HAS skin cancer, not related to my mother though,is on my dad's side of the family)?I'm really starting to freak out.Is skin cancer easily treated if it is a growth? Is it life threatening?Could there be any misconceptions and it is something else?Sorry for all the questions in one but I'm just so worried. Thanks everyone...

  1. Usually, a growth is pretty easy to remove- especially if it's small. Also, it could be a cyst, which are pretty harmless unless left there for a few years. My sis had one removed when she was nine, but she has had no further problems, six years later :) Hope you mum doesnt have cancer! ill pray for her!

  2. dont worry. skin cancer IS treatable if they catch it in time. it doesnt sound serious so i wouldnt start making assumtions to early. she willl robably be fine.

  3. All skin cancers can be "cured" if found early.

Actually, only one is truly dangerous and that is melanoma.

Melanoma is the size of a pencil eraser, or larger, multi-colored, and irregular borders.

What you describe, at worst, is the more common basal or squamous cell carcinoma.  These are treated with excision, laser, or freezing.  Then there is no treatment needed.

Alternately, it could be a "fatty tumor", or a sebaceous cyst, neither of which are serious.

Relax.  You worry too much.  Mom is going to be fine.

  4. Pack the Kleenex away. No need for any more weepies. You are right, though. Growths as you mention do not show up for no reason. But it is not a cancer. probably a benign mole, but she really should have it

attended to. She must be terribly self conscious of it being right on her face, don't you think? Life threatening skin cancers are black in colour

and you did not say anything about its colour. You would have if it was black. Or even brown. Go and take your mum out for a lovely cup of coffee and some yummy cake just to celebrate because it is a lovely day.

Oh, you are on a diet? The h**l with that. Go anyway.

  5. Skin cancer is usually treatable.

  6. I don't thnk that is a sign of skin cancer a sign of cancer are, your mom feeling weak all the times from all the white blood cells, it could come from a series of problems, if it is, it is treatable with todays technology, so don't worry and calm down, it will go away.

  7. Don't worry.  I had a small tiny lump on my face for 2 years,  I often tried squeezing it at times thinking it was  a pimple but, nothing ever came out.  By the 3 rd year a hole formed and I still waited .  It was cancer but, not the deadly kind.  That was 2 years ago and I'm fine.  So, I had it for 3 years and luckily all they had to do is remove it.  No other treatment.

  8. growths like that are very easy to treat and get rid of even if they are cancerous, even so skin cancer is the easiest of all the cancers to treat and cure
