I'm scared of my annual physical exam!?

I don't wanna go, but I need to for school. I'm really scared. I'm 12 years old, nearly 13, and I have my period and stuff. Are they gonna do anything "down there?" Will they touch my b*****s?

I'm scared of getting weighed too. We don't have a scale so I have no idea what I weigh. Last time I was 130 pounds and 5'6" tall. I don't look any different from then, I don't think. I just don't want them to say I'm overweight.

  1. They will not go "down there" until you are 18 or sexually active.

Don't worry about your physical, there are much worse things

  2. They won't touch you unless you state that there is some problems going on.

Doctors have no opinion towards their patients. They just try to keep you as healthy as possible. So don't worry about what they think.

Don't be scared what others think...

  3. They aren't going to do a pelvic exam on you, don't worry! Those don't start until you are 18 or sexually active, whichever comes first.

I don't remember having a breast exam at your age.  That again is something that is usually done the same time you are having a pelvic exam and a pap smear so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

As far as your weight is concerned, try not to stress about it too much.  Your doctor can recommend what you should do if you ARE overweight but I wouldn't stress about it if I were you.  They are not there to make fun of you or judge you.  If you are concerned about your weight, don't be afraid to ask your doctor some questions about it.  They are concerned with your health above all else so they want to make sure you are doing what is best for your body.

    Good luck, sweetie!
