Question:

I'm scared of roller coasters, help!?

I'm going to Cedar Point next weekend, but I hate roller coasters. I hate hate hate the feeling of your stomach floating up to your throat, but everyone loves it. Is there a medicine or something to take to calm the feeling?

  1. What helps is screaming as loud as you can on the way down.  Also, if you can, raise your hands in the air.


  2. smoke you some pot and you will not care.look at it this way if you get hurt from it......youre gonna get PAID!that is if you live through it.

  3. I've had similar fears with coasters, though mine is my fear of heights. The way I got over it is by convincing myself I will be fine and statistically speaking, the car ride there was likely more dangerous than the rides at the park.

    Since you're going to Cedar Point ( I've been there several times) I suggest trying out smaller coasters at first like the Iron Dragon and the Wildcat. From there you can move up to the Gemini and Corkscrew and see how you feel after those. If you feel fine, then I think you are ready for the more extreme coasters like the Raptor, Mean Streak, Top Thrill Dragster.

    Start small and work yourself up as you can pretty much gauge the intensity of the rides based upon their commercial hype, the longer lines and also just by taking a good look at the coasters themselves.

  4. so do i that feeling i hate but a couple of years ago i went on the incredible hulk in orlando DWD coz i thought i wudnt have a fear of rollercoasters if i got used 2 that feeling so i went on then went on every single ride in universal and disney (yes even the winnie the pooh 1s lol) but in the end i got used 2 it and didnt hate it as much but dont think u cud eva get rid of it

  5. you could take a dramamine, but then you might get a little sleepy.  it's a car sickness pill.  I personally think the best way to conquer your fear is to ride the biggest, scariest ride there.  I live about 1 1/2 hrs away from majic mountain.  I am a coaster junkie now, after I got up the guts to ride GOLIATH.

I used to hate that feeling too...just close your eyes and hold your breath as you start coming down the first hill, and remember the feeling will be gone as soon as you reach the bottom of the hill. Usually the rest of the ride is just fun and the first hill is the only time you get that feeling. At least that's how I am. Try to relax and enjoy it :-)

  10. There are two ways to help with your fear: Screaming or holding your breath.

    Screaming isn't only just for the fun of it! It helps not to feel that funny feeling in your stomach when the coaster drops. If you don't want to scream then take a deep breath - and hold it. It does help. Only do this for the drops...aren't those the tough parts to get over with anyway?

    Keep your eyes shut the entire time if you'd like, too. It helps.

    Work your way up. Ride a small roller coaster and then gradually ride the bigger ones.
