I'm scared of storms. TERRIFIED! Can someone comfort me?

I'm scared of storms. I'm always afraid they're going to turn into a tornado. I'm really TERRIFIED. Please help me. I need some major comfort as soon as possible. Someone please give me reasons to not be scared. I need comfort.

Do you have any pets? I ALWAYS grab my kitty and snuggle when Im scared :) even just staring at a fish as a distraction. If not just read a book, surf the web, or watch some movies.

Ok, if your in a protected area in the house then you are fine.. Turn on the weather channel or go to www.weather.com for any information and weather..Dont be afraid of storms because storms arent always that bad. The weather channel and the website will always give you storm information..If their is ever a warning their should be a red line going across the screen on the weather channel because it needs to tell you where to go and what to do..If you see some scary dark clouds in the distance and you are at home..just go on www.weather.com and see whats going on..Also, if it the warning bar ever comes across the screen while your watching the weather channel..it will let out 4 to 6 beeps for attention. The beeps are kinda scary but dont worry..

everyone has something that freaks them out (like im afraid of fish) i used to be afraid too.. butt then i had to be outside during a semi-tornado with nowhere to go.. just keep checking weather channels every now and again and if it gets bad- dont be scqared be calm! grab books and things like that- if you have pets hold them tight!!

if the strom doesnt get to bad- there really is no need to be scared! :) i hope i helped some what( ps im TILL scared if storms)

Well i want to comfort you and say tornadoes aren't as common as you think. Although the news makes it seem that way but remember the rare chance that a storm spawns a tornado is when it will make the news especially if its violent.

First of off unless you live in the midwest your chances of being in a tornado aren't good, which is good for you! The local news stations will definitely be making a big deal about it so if there is a strom that COULD produce a tornado they'll hype it to death, that way you'll have more time to take shelter. Most tornadoes that occur are very weak, which means that damage is inevitable but you have a much better chance of surviving.

What i think may be happening in your mind is that anytime a storm arrives and it gets really bad, like strong winds you may think there is a tornado. Trust me on this one, you'll know it, tornadoes don't just blow wind in one direction, they blow in all directions, its chaos and you'll hear it, it sounds like a rushing waterfall. At night things get a little trickier, especially if your sleeping but you'll hear the wind.
