  1. Look in the 1980 census.

  2. Some great suggestions so far.   ISRR is a must because it's the biggest international reunion registry out there

    http://isrr.net/

Join as many reunion registries as you can - the more you register with, the greater chance of a match.  Most are free.  ALMA I think charges a one-off fee but they do have an online search and support forum

    http://www.almasociety.org/

There have been many, many finds on this one:

    http://registry.adoption.com/

    And for Pennsylvania specifically:

    PA Find - http://members.tripod.com/~rombergers/ma...

PA Find Yahoo Group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pafind/

    PARR Pennsylvania Adoption Reunion Registry

    http://home.comcast.net/~paadoptionreuni...

    PAC Pennsylvania Adoption Connection

    http://hometown.aol.com/gshay/

    Pennsylvania Vital Records

    http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health...

    PA Adoption Medical History Registry

    http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health...

That should keep you busy!  If you need any more help just ask

    Good luck

  3. I am in the process of searching too. There are alot of great sites out there. Depending on what information you know.

If you know here name go to Zabasearch.com It is a great people search site.

Otherwise you can start with the isrr. That stands for the international soundex reunion registry. It is a world wide organization that helps reunite adoptees and there birth families. There is a registration form that you fill out and send it. (it is out of Nevada not Utah) This is the link http://www.isrr.net/registration.shtml

Also try www.adoption.com it is a great site that has an adoption registry along with adoption forums that you can use to get more information on how to search.

All three sites are good and FREE!

In most states you can obtain a birth list. It is a list of every person born on any one day in your state.  It does not give the original birth name, but gives the amended (or adoptive) name instead and that is what you need.  There could be anywhere from 100 to 300 names which includes males and females.   Retype the list to create a list of males only...that cuts the list in half right off the bat.  Your son would be one of those people.  It's a matter of process of elimination.  You would have to contact each of them, and ask if they were by chance adopted and if so, see if there are any similarities (such as mothers age, name of hospital, etc.)  I wouldn't say why you want the list, just ask for it.   I hope this helps you.

i have recently gotten the list from my state, because i am searching for my brother.

    Good Luck.

  4. Going back to the agency, and registering with ISRR (at http://www.isrr.net/) are both good places to start.

You may also want to check the book Birthright by Jean A. S. Strauss.  It is primarily aimed at adoptees, but it has a chapter  on birth parents searching that you might find helpful.

Also, find a support group if there is one near you.  They can offer both practical suggestions and give you emotional support during this roller coaster ride.

    Best of luck to you!

  5. it is born in 1980!!! thats 27 years ago!!!

  6. contact vsn.org the volunteer search network too. good luck!

  7. #1 adoption.com, register, give as much information as you know it to be, and search with as much information as you have.

#2, go back to the adoption services where your child was adopted out of, and let them know you are searching.  They might send a letter to the adoptive parents, and if the boy is looking, they might send  the letter to him.

#3 International soundex registry (out of utah), register there.
