I'm self representing...?

I'm an actress in Vancouver, BC. I'm very serious about my craft and I have chosen to self-represent before I get an agent. I've been looking up audition opportunities on VancouverActorsGuide, Craigslist, and the Vancouver Public Library. Are there any other free and REPUTABLE sources I could look up? How do I contact people for auditions for commercials...etc...?

  1. Take a look at the Canadian Fringe Festival.

find the theater companies that are in your area. call them up and ask if you could send your headshot/resume in for consideration. Make sure you are polite. If they seem nice ask a question about some good resources. At this phase you want to build a rapport with the theater company and show you are a bright, capable human. You are smart to work without an agent. Ive been to Vancouver, from what i recall there are some large theaters there. Also ask about internships and see what type of way you can get your foot in the proverbial door.
