I'm selling an item on Kijiji, is there a safe way to make a non-local sale?

The warnings on Kijiji and such sites say to NOT ship items due to scams. Is there a safe way to do them? I don't have a paypal account but once the money is through to paypal isn't it paid to me? Can people cancel paypal payments?

You'd most likely have to have a paypal account, otherwise, if they " paid over paypal" then who would they be paying?

I don't know anything about Kijiji, but I do have a PayPal account that works fine. I run a small online gift business and accept credit card payments via paypal. Once the money is cleared in paypal I receive an email advising that the funds have been deposited in my paypal account. This usually happens almost immediately and I often receive the order and payment in the same batch of emails. Hope this helps. I think it's wortwhile having a paypal account. Oh yes, you can transfer the money from paypal to you bank account and vice versa quite easily.

if the person cancels the amount that they payed to paypal, then your item will be shipped back to you...paypal is safe, and it is the only way you should sell something...enjoy!
