Really depends on the laws in your state.  If when separated you have full separation then no do not split.  If you think you may get back together then ...well you end up giving it all to her.

BTW, if you have kids and she is taking care of them them split right away.

  4. If you only separated and not divorced and you have to split half of everything then yeah that is on of the half of somethings you have to split.

  5. well depending how much it is ..if its a lot and have to claim it yes if not  then no you don't

  6. no you don't have to because if you. That would be uptwo you it shouldnt be uptwo us i'm sorry to disapoint you.

  7. depends on whether or not it's a legal separation and the laws for community property where you are.

  8. Give the winnings away as a gift to someone in your family you can trust ;)  Wait until all the dust settles and then maybe they might buy you a few things as gifts to return the favor :)

  9. how will she know if you dont tell her dont deposit the money into your account have your parents hold onto it

  10. Not unless you want her back....

  11. Legally, Yes, if you are still legally married though you may want to check your separation agreement.  Until the divorce papers are signed, you are legally married.

If the jackpot was large enough to claim with the IRS (the agent would have been on hand at the casino, or they may have asked for your Soc Sec Number when you collected your winnings) then you may have no choice.  YOur divorce will include all money earned during the year and you may even have to provide a 1040 when you deal wiht her lawyer.

  12. It depends on whether or not you are legally separated.  Did you go through the courts and have papers drawn up for your separation?  If not, then it isn't legal and you might have to split it if she gets wind of it!
