  1. My neighbor had 5 years prior in marines and he didn't have to take bct or wtc he just came in at a higher rank

  2. Not to argue or discount you Greg...

I attended WTC, prior service Navy, and it is exactly what Greg said... four weeks of refresher training.

You do have to attend WTC however I have not (recently) heard of any PS having to complete BCT.

IMO: WTC is a little more difficult due to the time frame of having to do things. You get four weeks to qual and show that you have the same skills of those going through nine weeks of BCT.

Other than knowing general military customs and maybe going in the field with Marines, four weeks is not enough time to properly train a PS NAVVET to go to the box and fight like a soldier not sailor. Again this is my own opinion but having gone downrange a few times I speak from experience.

  3. WTC is a four week refresher course of basic training for prior service personnel that either hasnt gone through ARMY BT or has been a while since they have.  however, since you attended navy BT and the ARMY doesnt recognize it then you MAY have to attend the full basic training.  do nt rule it out as a possiblity.
