I would like to run cables through my attic and around behind my sofa to hide components from view. My question is, how can I actually change channels, use DVD player, receiver, etc. without pointing a remote behind my couch? is there some type of device that would tie to each component and could be mounted adjacent to the tv that would receive signals?

  1. I did almost the same thing, and this is what I needed, and where I got it.  Couldn't beat the price...

You would need something like this:

And then the remote to go with it:

    Hope this helps!

  2. It really depends on how much you wnat to spend becuase you can just run a cat 5 cable or 18/2 sheilded cable or pretty much whatever 3 conductor wire from your tv location to where you are going to have your equipment then you can have a ir reciever on your tv and on the other side it will have a box that has emitters coming out and you connect them to your equipment.

Or you can do what the other guy said and get a universal remote that converts ir to rf and then connects to your equipment. I would go with universal remotes or pronto remotes but they both require programming on your part.

    http://www.pronto.philips.com/index.cfm?...

If you need help programming just drop me an email
